FARM2EARN TRAINING PROGRAM 2016

 

The Farm Beginnings® course, an educational training and support program designed to help people who want to evaluate and plan their farm enterprise. This course is appropriate for those who want to transition their existing farmland or who are focused on larger livestock.

Model home farm school is geared for adults who want to learn about the life, economics, and labor of small scale organic farming practices. The course includes lectures and five farming days at the Farm2Earn ranch. The lectures will take you through the business of starting a rural or urban farm, on-site digging, planting, weeding and harvesting - hands-on, practical learning.

On-farm training and hands-on learning

Farms2Earn is designed for the individual who already have aground work of farm knowledge and skills but is looking to extend their experience managing a successful farm business with the goal of running their own farm enterprise. The majority of the program is  focused on learning by doing.

Over time, you will be expected to share responsibilities with the farmers. These tasks will generally include field walks and observation, record keeping, product deliveries, marketing, irrigation, and general farm maintenance.

Classes and seminars

Topics may include:

  • Selection and maintenance of farm equipment
  • Designing irrigation systems
  • Long-term soil fertility & advanced soil science
  • Financial management
  • Farm financing options
  • Agricultural land use regulations
  • Conservation agriculture
  • The state of organic farming
  • Finding, leasing, and purchasing land

School food program

Farm2Earn teach students to learn about food production .The students learn important lessons about soil composition, plant science, nutrition – an increased attendance, better academic outcomes, healthier kids and eating better food are the outcomes.

Farm2Earn will help countless schools and students around the country start similar programs, so students can learn how to grow from a young age.
